The Bride

Proverbs 31:10-31

I used to feel so threatened by this lady!

Until I realised that she is me (‘me’ being a work in progress ).

I love the freedom that she has to develop her strengths. Her husband’s trust in her is so beautiful .

This lady wouldn’t have started off wise and accomplished, although the raw material was there: a teachable spirit, tenacity, faithfulness.

The dynamic between the two of them is striking. He trusts her; she honours him.

I notice that she too features at ‘the gate’, which is a place of authority. She is free to exercise leadership.

I am also reminded that as the book of Proverbs ends with this beautiful wife, so does the book of Revelation, as the pure spotless Bride joins her Betrothed in the wedding of the Lamb.

Perhaps this chapter points to ALL of us as the Bride of Christ. This is who WE are.
