From the outside we look quite ordinary, a detached suburban house built in the late ‘60’s towards the edge of Derby. Ample parking is available on the driveway.
On favourable days, the rear garden makes a pleasant place for retreat. The neighbourhood is very quiet and the soothing sounds from the fishpond add to the peaceful ambience.
Inside
You will notice that each room has been named according to the impression that we felt the Lord gave us as we prayed through the house. There is information in each of the rooms giving the Biblical background for the names and how they were chosen.
Prayer room
We have a dedicated Prayer Room downstairs where we meet to worship and to pray for the city, the nation and the nations of the world as the Lord leads. This is also a space where individuals can take time out with the Lord on their own.
Communion can be made available and there are maps for those who appreciate praying more visually.
Dining area
There is an open plan kitchen/dining area that is perfect for hospitality, with a picture window view of the garden. Rich fellowship is enjoyed as guests gather around the table in the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The food is wholesome, home-cooked and largely organic. A variety of soups, breads and cakes is typically offered on the Retreat Days; overnight guests have the added treat of enjoying Mary’s wider culinary skills. Most dietary requirements (gluten-free, vegetarian for example) can be catered for.
Upstairs rooms
Upstairs accommodation consists of one double bedroom two singles and a sitting room that can also be used as a single bedroom, accommodating up to 5 people.
Bill and Mary and occasionally members of the team are happy to make themselves available to pray with guests.
