Come Away with Me

A poem by Rachel Gardiner

Come away with Me, My child, You whisper.
Come with Me and rest awhile
And I will lead you by quiet water
And lead you by the glistening stream
And I will show you where you’re hurting
And weep the tears you cannot cry.

Come away with Me, My child, You whisper.
Come with Me and stay awhile
And I will show you all My glory
And I will show you all My love
And I will show the wounds I suffered;
For you, My child, to give you life.

Come away with Me up to the mountain,
Come with Me and spend some time
Away from noise, demands and deadlines
Into My presence; find true rest.

Come away with Me and feel the sunshine,
Come with Me and smell the air.
Let grains of sand run through your fingers,
Dip your toes in the flowing brook
And in the stillness, hear Me calling;
In the stillness, call your name.

O, Lord, I’ll come away with You now.
O, Lord, I’ll come away with You
Through the meadow to the river,
There to find Your perfect rest,
There to find Your Holy City,
There to find Your glorious throne,
There to kneel in adoration
And fall before the King of kings.
