Nothing lasts?
31/10/24 Yesterday Bill and I went to Calke for a long walk and stopped at the cafe. As I came to the last few bites of my delicious danish pastry I realised the enjoyment was about to end and I thought of the saying “All good things must come to an end”. I suppose this saying helps us to accept the end of something good. But it’s only one side of the coin. Because in fact all bad things must also come to an end. Nothing lasts forever, whether good or bad or in between. In fact everything on this earth is temporal. But the good news is that God offers us the gift of eternity, a life in His presence which will never come to an end. How amazing is that! John 3:36 says “ Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life”. 1 John 5:11 TPT says, “This is the true testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life has its source in His Son.” Christians have access to the supernatural realm of God and when Christ returns they will reign with Him forever. Meanwhile we can enjoy simple pleasures for as long as they last.
