Trusting God (Psalm 91)

Sometimes I write verses from the Bible in my own words. It can be a helpful way of digesting them.

Here’s how I paraphrased Psalm 91:9-13. “If you trust in the almighty God to protect you, and dwell with Him in close communion, nothing evil will get through to you, no trouble will be able to drag you down. God will set His angels around you to guard you and you will overcome evil, defeating fierce lions and poisonous snakes.” The key thing here is that we will be shielded by staying close to God and trusting Him. Evil will still come and we will still experience trouble, but it won’t defeat us. We can stand firm, resilient, courageous and ever hopeful in spite of our distress. Our faith in the goodness of God helps us through.
