Jehovah Shammah

Today we look at “Jehovah Shammah” – “The Lord is there” (Ezekiel 48:35). This name for God is not limited in its application to the City and age to come, it conveys a truth which has been a great reality and comfort to God’s people in every age. So we don’t need to wait for its fulfilment.

David says in the Psalms, “Whither shall I go from Thy Spirit?…..If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Thy hand shall lead me, and Thy right hand shall hold me….”(Psalm 139:7-12).

Grammatically it is wrong in English to use more than one negative – because they “cancel” each other out. But in Greek you can have more than one negative – they just multiply the FORCE of the negative. Literally Hebrews 13:5 days, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you – NOT, NEVER NOHOW.” (There are three negatives). So wherever the Christian is, he can say “God is there” – “Jehovah Shammah.”
