You Show Me the Path of Life

Recently someone said to me “ We’re just existing”.

I nodded in agreement but then afterwards realised that wasn’t really true. If we have Christ in us, then we are more than “existing” despite the lockdowns, the restrictions, the strange new way of everyday living. It’s a question of perspective.

Also what am I relying on for my well-being? Do I really need to go out for meals and coffees, go off for holidays and breaks, go to the cinema or theatre etc in order to be satisfied with life? Of course all these things provide employment for others and add to our enjoyment of life but they are not a substitute for the deep peace, joy, contentment and abundance offered by Jesus. He is the One who truly satisfies.

Can we echo the words of Psalm 16:11 “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand” ? I like the way this is translated in the NET “You lead me in the path of life; I experience absolute joy in your presence; you always give me sheer delight.”

So let’s find our life in the Lord is more than existence by concentrating on our relationship with Him. I could certainly be doing that a lot more myself!
